Roger L. Crique Dominican Heritage Slate Desk Plaque | Dominó en el Campo

Description

Dominó en el Campo celebrates one of the most familiar scenes of Dominican life—four friends gathered around a table, dominoes in hand, sharing laughter, conversation, and the simple pleasure of spending time together. Set beneath the shade of a tree in the Dominican countryside, the scene captures a tradition where the game is only part of the experience.

Created by Roger L. Crique as part of the Dominican Heritage Collection, this piece pays tribute to those afternoons when a wooden table, a set of dominoes, good friends, and plenty of conversation were all that was needed. From the countryside to neighborhood sidewalks and family gatherings, dominoes have long been part of the rhythm of Dominican social life.

With its rustic country setting and the words “Amigos, Buena Conversación, Café y Dominó — Así es la Vida,” this plaque celebrates friendship, laughter, competition, and those wonderfully simple moments that become lasting memories.

And I really like “Dominó en el Campo” as the title. It tells you exactly what the scene is without overexplaining it.
