Roger L. Crique Dominican Kitchen Slate Desk Plaque | Colando Café

Colando Café celebrates one of those simple traditions that can instantly bring back memories of home—the aroma of freshly brewed coffee prepared the old-fashioned way. This natural slate desk plaque captures a senior woman in a humble country kitchen, carefully pouring coffee through a traditional cloth strainer as glowing embers warm the stove and chickens wander just outside the open door.

Created by Roger L. Crique as part of the Dominican Kitchen Series, the scene is inspired by the warmth, simplicity, and everyday rituals of Dominican country life while evoking memories familiar throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. The natural slate texture and individually chiseled edges make each plaque unique, while the included display stand makes it perfect for a kitchen, desk, shelf, coffee station, or meaningful gift.
