Roger L. Crique Heritage Collection Slate Desk Plaque | Diablos Cojuelos

Description

Description

A striking black-and-white tribute to one of the Dominican Republic’s most recognizable carnival traditions.

This artwork captures the dramatic presence of the Diablos Cojuelos, with their elaborate horned masks, richly decorated costumes, and unmistakable energy as they move through the streets. Rooted deeply in Dominican folklore and carnival culture, the character represents centuries of tradition, satire, celebration, and popular expression.

Rendered in a vintage documentary style, the scene places the figures within a distinctly Dominican streetscape, preserving the atmosphere of an older Santo Domingo and the cultural spirit surrounding these traditional performers.
